Global Attribute tracking Standard

(GATS)

In an era where sustainability drives the global agenda, the Global Attribute Tracking Standard (GATS) emerges as a cornerstone for environmental stewardship. Designed with precision and foresight, GATS establishes a universally recognized framework to manage environmental attribute markets effectively. This standard ensures that the mechanisms for issuing, tracking, and redeeming Global Renewable Attribute Certificates (G-RACs) are robust, transparent, and reliable, fostering trust among all stakeholders—from producers to end-users.

Objective

The primary objective of GATS is to harmonize the global landscape of environmental attribute management. By introducing standardized practices, GATS allows governments, organizations, and individuals to:

  1. Make Credible Environmental Claims: Provide verifiable evidence of their contributions to sustainability, such as renewable energy usage or carbon neutrality.
  2. Support Sustainability Goals: Align their activities with international climate commitments, such as the Paris Agreement and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  3. Foster Global Collaboration: Create seamless, interoperable systems that transcend national borders, promoting international trade in environmental attributes.

In achieving these objectives, GATS not only addresses current challenges but also establishes a forward-looking model capable of adapting to evolving market demands and technological advancements.

Why GATS?

The need for GATS is underscored by persistent challenges in environmental attribute markets. These challenges often undermine the credibility and operational efficiency of such systems, resulting in diminished trust among stakeholders.
